01Getting in

No password. Nothing to set up.

Continue with Apple, with Google, or with a six-digit code sent to your email. Then it asks your name, and you’re in. Your business name comes up the first time a quote goes out, and your bank details the first time you invoice.

02Type or talk

Hands full? Hold the mic.

Hold the mic and say it the way you’d say it to a mate, then stop and check the words, or finish and send. It counts as one message, just like typing.

You: Add repointing the chimney, £280, to the Davies job.

Tools Down: Added. £280 for repointing the chimney, on the Davies re-roof.

03No signal

No signal on site? Keep going.

The chat needs a connection to answer. Without one, what you send, photos and all, waits on your phone and goes when the signal comes back. Gas safety records work with no signal at all: issued on the phone, and sent when you’re back in range.

You: Loft at 14 Park Road. Boiler’s in the airing cupboard.

Location

Only if you tap Use my location on a “near me” question. It’s approximate unless you change it, and only your town and postcode area are used, never kept.

£29.99 a month including VAT, or £24.99 if you reclaim VAT. One person, no minimum, no setup fee, no training.

  • Tools Down Pro is paid monthly through Apple. It lifts the message limit, and the price you join at is the price you keep.
