The short answer
No single app is right for everyone: it depends whether you work alone, your trade, and what you need on the invoice. For a sole trader, compare what one person pays, whether there’s a free plan, whether unpaid invoices are chased for you, CIS and VAT on the invoice, and how customers pay. Where to start
- You run a team, or plan to: Fergus or Tradify, both priced per user, or Jobber if you also want online booking and a client hub.
- You want to pay little or nothing: ServiceM8’s free plan, if your jobs fit its 30 a month, or TradeMore’s free Solo plan.
- Gas work is most of what you do: Gas Engineer Software, with gas records on every plan.
- You work for contractors and need CIS on the invoice: Tools Down, Powered Now, YourTradebase, or Gas Engineer Software on Core and Pro.
